Privacy
How we handle your information when you study, contribute or contact us.
Last updated: 23 October 2026Use a nickname and keep personal details out of questions and community posts. Contact and feedback messages go privately to the BeyondClass team.
01Information we collect
When you create an account, we process your email address, authentication details and profile information you provide, such as a display name. Live quizzes collect a nickname, room membership, submitted choices and scores, and use a temporary session cookie for joining and reconnecting. At signup, we record your acknowledgement of the Privacy policy and Disclaimer, the time it was submitted and the document versions. We also process questions, answers, community posts, feedback and contact messages you submit, and practice goals, saved work and activity associated with the features you use. Technical information such as request details, device and browser information, and service errors may be processed to operate and protect the site.
02How we use information
We use information to sign you in, save your work, provide practice features, display contributions, moderate content, respond to requests, prevent abuse and improve site reliability. Contact and feedback forms collect a name or nickname, email and message so the BeyondClass team can respond. A hashed network identifier is used to limit spam.
03Public contributions and private messages
Approved questions and community contributions, including their displayed contributor name, can be viewed publicly and may be indexed or copied by others. Do not include private information about yourself or anyone else in public submissions. Contact and feedback messages go privately to the team’s inbox; they are not community posts. In live quizzes, your nickname and score are visible to other participants in the room. If you write a private quiz, its questions, options and explanations are stored for that game and shared with room participants as the game progresses; they are not automatically published in the question library. If you sign in and opt into public quiz rankings before playing, your account display name and completed-game counts can appear on the host and mate leaderboards. Guests and players who do not opt in are not publicly ranked. Anonymous aggregate pack selections may appear on the popular-packs board. Avoid using your full name. Platform admins can access that inbox. Authorised moderators can access submissions they need to review.
04Service providers and overseas processing
BeyondClass uses Supabase for account and database services and Vercel for hosting, usage analytics and performance monitoring. Email delivery and mailbox providers process messages needed to communicate with you. Where AI-assisted practice is enabled, your practice goal and selected subject and year level may be sent to OpenAI to identify a suitable topic. Avoid entering sensitive or identifying information in practice goals. These providers may process information outside Australia under their own service arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or to address misuse or security incidents.
05Cookies and browser storage
Cookies keep account sessions working and support guest practice. Browser storage may retain features such as unfinished community drafts. Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights help us understand usage and performance. You can manage cookies and site storage through your browser, but clearing or blocking them may sign you out, remove local drafts or affect saved sessions. On a shared device, sign out and clear locally stored drafts when finished.
06Retention and security
We keep information while needed to provide the service, handle requests and meet related operational or legal needs. Compact quiz ranking and pack-popularity records may remain after expired rooms and raw game answers are removed. Public quiz identity is removed when the associated account is deleted. For Sets & tests, we store your selected packs, question snapshots, choices, first checked outcomes, viewed-answer flags, timing and pause history privately to your account. Unfinished attempts remain for 30 days and completed attempts for 90 days. Saved sets remain for 90 days from creation or the latest attempt; deleting a set also removes its attempts. Expired records are removed on your next authorised Sets & tests request, and are not available after expiry. Retention can vary by record type; copies may remain in backups for a period after removal from active systems. We use access controls and service-provider security features, but no online service can guarantee complete security.
07Students and personal information
BeyondClass is intended for HSC study and may be used by students under 18. Use a nickname for public contributions and avoid sharing your school, address, phone number, health information or other sensitive details. Ask a parent, carer or teacher if you are unsure what to share. A student or parent can contact us about a privacy concern.
08Access, correction, deletion and concerns
Use Contact us to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Include the relevant account email or message reference, but do not send passwords. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will assess the request and explain any limits, including records we need to retain. External websites linked from BeyondClass have their own privacy practices.
09Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as BeyondClass changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Please review it when using new features.
